Underground Electrical Services

Trenching, conduit and underground distribution for site power, lighting and utility feeds.

Underground work is unforgiving because mistakes are buried. Conduit installed without proper bedding, feeders sized without accounting for the derating that applies to underground runs, or a pull that damaged conductor insulation — none of it is visible until something fails, and by then the repair means excavation.

Underground scope

  • Trenching, boring and directional drilling
  • Primary and secondary underground distribution
  • Conduit, duct bank and vault installation
  • Parking lot and site lighting circuits and bases
  • Utility service laterals and utility coordination
  • Underground fault location and repair
  • Locating and protection of existing utilities
  • Restoration of surfaces and landscaping

Fault location and repair

When an underground circuit fails, the expensive part is finding it. We use fault locating equipment to narrow the failure to a small section before excavating, rather than trenching the whole run and hoping. On a long parking lot lighting circuit that difference is measured in thousands of dollars.

Locating before digging

We call in utility locates on every underground project without exception, and we hand-expose near known utilities. Colorado law requires it and the alternative — striking a gas line or a fiber trunk — is a category of mistake worth being careful about.

Common questions

Can you find an underground fault without digging up the whole run?

Yes. Fault locating equipment narrows the failure point to a small section of the run, so excavation is limited to that area. It is substantially cheaper than exploratory trenching.

Do you restore the surface afterward?

Yes. Backfill, compaction and surface restoration are included in our underground scope. We will define the restoration standard in the proposal so there is no ambiguity about the finished condition.
