What older Denver buildings tend to hide
Ungrounded two-wire circuits are the most common finding, followed by aluminum branch wiring from the mid-1960s to mid-1970s, which requires specific connection methods to be safe. Neither is necessarily an emergency, but both matter, and both are far cheaper to correct while the walls are already open.

Common questions
Do I have to bring the whole building up to code during a remodel?
Generally no. Code applies to the work being performed, not retroactively to untouched areas. There are exceptions — service capacity, smoke alarm requirements, and certain grounding provisions can trigger broader obligations. We identify what your jurisdiction will require before you finalize the budget.
Is aluminum wiring dangerous?
Aluminum branch circuit wiring from that era has a higher failure rate at connections than copper because of expansion and oxidation. It is not automatically a hazard, but it does require approved connection methods and periodic inspection. Remediation options range from pigtailing at devices to full replacement.
