Utility Rebates & Incentives
Program navigation, pre-approval filing and rebate capture across utility territories.
Utility incentive programs pay a meaningful share of most commercial efficiency projects, and they are administratively unpleasant enough that a lot of money goes unclaimed. The rules are program-specific, the deadlines are real, and the sequence matters.
What we manage
- Program eligibility research for your utility territory
- Pre-approval application filed before work begins
- Product qualification against program requirements
- Required pre- and post-installation documentation
- Inspection and verification coordination
- Final claim submission and follow-through to payment
- Multi-territory management for multi-site clients
- Custom and prescriptive program navigation
Pre-approval is the whole game
Nearly every prescriptive and custom program requires approval before installation. Install first and you are ineligible — there is no appeal and no retroactive filing. This single sequencing error costs commercial clients more incentive money than any other factor.
We file pre-approval as the first step of any efficiency project, before material is ordered.
Prescriptive versus custom
Prescriptive programs pay a fixed amount per qualifying unit and are straightforward. Custom programs pay based on modeled or measured savings, require engineering documentation, and generally pay more on projects that do not fit standard categories. Choosing the right path is worth real money and is not always obvious.
Common questions
How much can rebates cover?
It varies by program, measure and territory. Commercial lighting incentives commonly offset a meaningful portion of project cost, and custom programs can go higher on strong projects. We identify what your specific project qualifies for before you commit.
What if we already installed?
In most cases the incentive is no longer available, because pre-approval is a program requirement rather than a formality. It is worth checking — occasionally a program has a retroactive window — but the honest answer is usually no.
