Domestic sourcing is a design constraint
Buy American provisions and the Trade Agreements Act limit which products can be supplied on federal work, and the constraint bites hardest on lighting and controls where much manufacturing is offshore.
This has to be settled during specification. Discovering at submittal that the specified fixture is ineligible costs weeks, and the compliant alternative frequently has different photometrics — which means the layout may need reworking rather than a simple product swap.

Cybersecurity applies to lighting now
Networked lighting controls are network-connected devices, and on federal facilities they are treated as such. Systems face review covering authentication, encryption, patching and data handling before they are permitted onto a facility network.
The DLC Networked Lighting Controls Qualified Products List is useful here beyond its rebate function, because it verifies cybersecurity and data-access claims that are otherwise difficult to evaluate from a datasheet. We specify with the review in mind rather than discovering the problem at commissioning.
Federal energy mandates create the work
Federal facilities operate under standing energy and efficiency reduction requirements, which makes lighting and controls a recurring source of funded work rather than a one-off capital decision.
Measurement and verification matters more here than in commercial work, because reported savings roll into agency-level compliance reporting. An IPMVP-based M&V plan is frequently a contract requirement rather than an option. See measurement and verification.

Yes. Our airside work at Denver International runs under badging, escort and movement-area authorisation — the same class of access constraint as federal secure facilities, and directly relevant experience.
Can you meet Buy American requirements?
Yes. We confirm the applicable clause, obtain domestic-content documentation before ordering, and verify photometric equivalence where a compliant substitution changes the product. It has to be resolved at specification stage rather than at submittal.
Do your control systems pass cybersecurity review?
We specify with that review in mind, favouring systems on the DLC NLC Qualified Products List because it verifies cybersecurity and data-access claims independently. Final acceptance rests with the facility, so we involve their IT security early rather than at commissioning.
